“We are here to help.”

This slogan can be found on the police car doors of the Washington, D.C. police department. I see it every night when I walk the ladies (my two small dogs). When I see this slogan I shake my head and spend a couple of minutes pondering its placement and role in our current society and my life.

I have lots of meetings with clients to help them solve problems and train them on new ways to use digital tools. Sometimes my assistance is appreciated. Other times, I’m met with sarcasm and a lack of desire for my assistance. Either way, at the end of these meetings I reiterate the fact that I’m here to help.

There are lots of people that are here to help. I know it can be tough to ask for help. When we decide that working together as a society or a team will allow us to achieve great things we can move forward and truly thrive. Everyone has experiences and knowledge. I believe everyone wants to succeed. Our experiences should unite us, not divide us. They should ensure our success as a team and as a society.

I’ll leave you with another quote that’s interesting and that I think’s related. It’s from a recent Linkedin Daily Rundown from former Campbell Soup CEO Douglas Conant – Some people think they’ve got nothing left to learn. Those people remain stagnant. But other people know they’re never done learning. They’re the ones who get unstuck, thrive and transform continuously throughout their life.”
