Where in the World
My team and I have created lots of maps for various clients. We love maps as a content discovery method. A way for users to engage with and contextualize content. To provide a sense of scale and reach.
This week I wanted to share the list of my team’s top 5 maps that we’ve created.
Reits Across America
You can check out the digital experience here.
This advocacy tool showcases the number of REITs in any given area. It provides a way to sort, search, and filter the various categories and shows the location and value of each point on the map.
The Technology: This experience uses Mapbox and AngularJS and Drupal.
Why It’s Cool: The headless implementation of Drupal allows this map to have great animations. In addition, the volume of data stored in the CMS and pulled from various sources makes this a truly dynamic advocacy tool that works across browsers and devices.
CSCE
Check out the map here.
This map is a tool for content discovery and navigation as well as to highlight the scope of the commission’s impact. It allows users to easily find content based on a particular country.
The Technology: The map uses amCharts and Drupal.
Why It’s Cool: The map acts as a navigation for the library of content the digital experience offers. In the discovery phase of this project, it was clear that while some users focused on a topic, others came with a specific country in mind. In addition, amCharts allows us to control color and key, so the map has a modern feel and works well across browsers and devices.
Mix
Check out the map here.
When the Mix wanted to find a way to highlight their financial access maps my team set out to create them an integrated experience that shows the impact their work has around the world.
The Technology: This map uses amCharts and Drupal.
Why It’s Cool: This map takes into account the language the site is in and updates to only show the content in that language.
Claire and Ryan’s Wedding
Claire and Ryan asked my team to create a wedding website full of features (requesting songs, ordering Ubers, and getting directions). Since most of their guests were from out of town, so they wanted to ensure people had a great experience. With this in mind, we created a map that highlighted things to do.
The Technology: This map used Google Maps and WordPress.
Why It’s Cool: The personal touches of custom icons was an easy way for out of town guests to experience Fort Myers through the eyes of the bride and groom by highlighting their favorite places.
Equal Futures
Check out the map here.
When an organization wants to show their impact they typically show numbers and a map. This was the case with Equal Futures, who used design and colors to highlight the impact they are making on the world.
The Technology: The map uses amCharts and Drupal.
Why It’s Cool: The map has a fun design that fits with the rest of the brand. The interactivity of the map also highlights the successes as well as the potential impact in each region.
